- RV’s, Caravans & Other Vehicular applications are ideal applications for the RVT. – Here Electrical safety can be significantly improved.
- Getting electrical protection for mains supplies one moment and protection for unearthed portable generators or power inverters the next, is problematic for conventional RCD’s/RCBO’s. – WWEST’s RVT provides this extra protection.
Providing an earthed environment to enable the RCD to operate is a problem when driving along the road! When operating in a mains powered situation or when operating from an ‘unbonded portable generator or power inverter’ the RVT in combination with an RCD, provides enhanced electrical protection through an ‘additional layer of electrical protection’ as follows:
- loss of a good earth or high impedance earth environments (hard rocky or sandy soils),
- loss of supply neutral integrity (the largest cause of electrical shock in Australia),
- a voltage rise of 43V on the frame of equipment or the vehicle/caravan,
- electrical protection for unearthed portable generators and power inverters.
- enhanced electrical protection in earthed and unearthed environments.
Most portable generators sold in Australia are unbonded, however some are converted in Australia to be a bonded type, where the Neutral and Earth are connected together in a bid to make the RCD function. This method has proven to be unsafe with some regulatory authorities recommending against it.
